Duane Henning

 

            Duane Henning was born April 28, 1933 in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Irvin and Mabel (Huebner) Henning.  In 1951, Duane graduated from the Tripoli High School.  Duane served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.  He farmed in the Tripoli and Frederika areas until his retirement.  Duane was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli.  He loved farming and driving his tractor.

            Duane had been a resident of the Hillcrest Home in Sumner. His death occurred Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner. He was seventy-nine years old.

            He is survived by his brother, Marvin Henning of Fredericksburg; and numerous cousins.

            Duane was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister in infancy.

            Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Miles Renaas officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Tripoli. A Memorial Fund has been established in his name.
